District Superintendent, Nassau BOCES


The Nassau Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) Board of Education is seeking an experienced, results-driven educational leader with a proven record of achievement in large and complex organizations to serve as the District Superintendent of Nassau BOCES. The District Superintendent serves as the New York State Commissioner of Education’s representative to the 56 component districts as well as the Superintendent of the BOCES. The Board, with input from stakeholders, has identified the following as desirable characteristics for its District Superintendent:

  • Unquestioned integrity and moral character
  • A visionary who will build upon the Agency’s mission, vision, and values
  • Successful PK-12 leadership background with demonstrable experience in improving teaching, learning and student-centered outcomes through program and services development
  • Successful teaching experience and knowledge of effective Special Education and Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum
  • Committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion
  • The ability to work collaboratively and strategically with the Board and administrators to meet the needs of, communicate with and advocate for internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to listen to and address the needs of component districts
  • Familiarity with the region
  • To be an educational advocate on the local, state and federal levels
  • New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certificate; New York State residency will be required upon appointment
