Carrying the mission forward – a message from Bryna Moritz

Dear NYSAWA Members,

Another school year is on the horizon. You can feel it in the shift of the calendar, the buzz of preparation, and the quiet moments where you pause and think about all that’s ahead. Before the pace picks up, I want to take a moment to connect with you and share a message of encouragement as we begin this next chapter together.

Each new year brings fresh challenges, new opportunities, and countless chances to lead with purpose. As members of NYSAWA, we know that leadership is not just about the role we hold, but about the way we show up—for our students, our communities, and one another.

The mission of NYSAWA is to support and empower women in educational leadership across New York state. That mission isn’t something that lives only in our affiliate events or conferences. It comes to life every day—in how we advocate, how we lead with clarity and compassion, and how we make space for others to rise.

As you head into this new year, I hope you carry the NYSAWA mission with you. Let it ground your decisions, remind you of your strength, and help you find connection in a field that can often feel isolating. You are part of a vibrant network of women who understand what it means to lead in today’s schools. We are here to support each other, to learn together, and to celebrate the impact we are making.

So reach out. Share ideas. Ask for help. Celebrate your progress. You are not alone in this work—and you never have to be.

Here’s to a year of courageous leadership, meaningful progress, and the quiet, steady work that shapes lives.

With admiration and encouragement,

Bryna Moritz
