In addition to a demonstrated passion for expanding educational opportunities for historically underserved students, YWCP is seeking an innovative, creative, and transformational leader who has:
- At least five (5) years of urban classroom teaching experience
- At least three (3) years of school-based administrative experience
- A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- A demonstrated track record of increasing achievement of historically underserved students
- Experience using data to improve the academic outcome for students
Demonstrated ability to effectively recruit, develop and retain an excellent staff - Experience in creating opportunities to develop partnerships between the YWCP school community and national, state, and local organizations
- Proven experience developing and implementing innovative youth development and social-emotional models to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Outstanding skills in instructional leadership and professional development
- Ability to lead and manage a safe, supportive, and rigorous school environment
- Experience working with or in charter schools
- Proven ability to collaborate with staff, students, and parents and guardians to establish and build collective ownership
- Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Understanding the tenets of culturally responsive teaching and learning
- Ability to demonstrate the implementation of cultural responsiveness
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a school-based leader in a state other than New York
- Eligibility for New York State SBL or SDL certification
- Knowledge of research-based educational practices for adolescent girls
Primary Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Build a culture of safety, respect, and belonging where students and adults all feel ownership of the school’s success
- Lead the YWCP instructional model designing curriculum, supporting teacher development and modeling excellence in instruction
- Monitor the progress of all students through effective use of data and communication
- Design and execute effective family engagement plan, cultivating parents as partners in the education of their children
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to ensure the budget and operations of the school are effectively aligned to the priorities for student success
- Collaborate with the School Leadership Team to ensure the academic program and student outcomes are aligned with the key design elements and academic achievement goals
- Develop relationships and connections with the student body
- Support and nurture the implementation of culturally responsive instructional pedagogy
- Understand and execute a restorative culture in the school
- Infuse “whole girl pedagogy” into all classrooms including elevating student’s voices and building home, and school connections
- Create a symbiotic relationship with the YWCP Foundation Board
- Support the college-bound initiatives of the school
- Collaborate with the Student Leadership Network
- Develop community relationships that will support the school, its staff, its students and their families
- Partner with the Board of Trustees on strategic initiatives, reporting, and accountability
- Ensure legal, financial, and ethical integrity in the school
- Recruit, hire, and supervise an effective team of faculty and staff
- Ensure compliance with all NYSED, Federal, State, and local policies, rules, and regulations
Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2023
Salary and Benefits: Starting salary $160,000* with additional competitive benefits . YWCP is a New York State Retirement System Contributor
